November 13, 2018 Meeting Minutes
CRYSTAL TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING
November 14, 2018
7:00 p.m.
Crystal Community Center
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor, C Johnston at 7:00 p.m. and followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Members Present: Curt McCracken, Chris Johnston, George Bahm, Patty Baker-Marek,
Absent: Nancy Mills
Public Comment: Public was allowed time to make comments.
C Johnston-would be presiding over the meeting but not voting throughout the night.
Approval of Agenda and Accept the Consent Agenda: Motion by Baker-Marek, seconded by McCracken to approve the agenda with the addition of item g. Library Book Storage and approve the consent agenda. Motion carried- all ayes.
Approval of the Consent Agenda: Motion by McCracken, seconded by Bahm to approve the consent agenda. Motion carried-all ayes.
Reports: Reports were presented.
Montcalm County: Chris Johnston-big issue right now is the potential septic ordinance.
Fire: Scott Brundage- 3 structure runs. Scott is working on getting our ISO reduced, anticipating it going from a 9 to a 8S, which should reduce insurance premiums in the future.
DPW: Roger Gooding- Leaf pick up is in full swing, new equipment is really helping. Gym doors expected around Dec 1.
Sewer District Report: Scott Brundage-Station 11 pump still must be replaced, was used at a station at Duck Lake due to wet wipes. Tractor is still not done.
Duck Lake Improvement: D Wight-absent
DDA:David Wight—absent
Montcalm Police Report: Officer-reviewed monthly report.
Community Center Committee: Committee continues to meet still seeking estimates from various professionals.
Correspondence: Monthly correspondence was presented.

Unfinished Business:
a. Swim Buoys: Motion by Baker-Marek, seconded by Bahm to accept bid from Rolyan Buoys for the 6 Buoys. Motion carried, ayes-all.
b. Contractor List: no action.
New Business:
A. DDA:
a. Membership-Motion by McCracken, seconded by Bahm to appoint Denise Schneider and Deb Woodard to serve another term on the DDA Board. Motion carried, ayes-all.
b. Sutton Property-township has been in contact with the attorney and the Sutton’s regarding the Old Library Building.
B. Board of Review: Motion by McCracken, seconded by Bahm to appoint R Muscott and K Morgan to the Board of Review. Motion carried, ayes-all.
C. Line Item Adjustment: Motion by Baker-Marek, seconded by Bahm to adjust the negative budget line items as presented. Motion carried, ayes-all.
D. Turn out Gear: Motion by McCracken, seconded by Baker-Marek to replace 5 sets of Turn out gear at the cost of $1889.24 each, plus shipping and handling. Motion carried, ayes-all.
E. Bank Accounts: Motion by Baker-Marek, seconded by Bahm to remove Christopher Johnston and Nancy Mills from all the bank accounts adding Curt McCracken and Kim Siburt. Motion carried, ayes-all.
F. Supervisor Position: Chris read his resignation. Motion by Baker-Marek, seconded by McCracken to accept the supervisor resignation. Motion carried, ayes-all. Motion by Bahm, seconded by Baker-Marek to appoint Curt McCracken to the supervisor position. Motion carried, ayes-Bahm, Baker-Marek, McCracken, abstained: Johnston.
a. Will hold a Special Meeting Wednesday, December 5 @ 7pm to do interviews for any potential Trustee Candidates. Submit a letter of interest, resume by Tuesday, December 4, 4pm to Patty Baker-Marek, 217 E Park Street
G. Library Storage: Motion by Bahm, seconded by McCracken to allow the Library to use a room for storage of old books, through March 1, 2019. Motion carried, ayes-all.
Public Comment:
M Redding: if looking for a contractor list post on the Contractor Page not in the classifieds.
M Lane, recommend getting out there ahead of the Marijuana issue, don’t let it get to far ahead of us.
C McCracken, thanks to Chris for 6 years of dedication to the township and to Nancy for cleaning up the mess she walked into
Motion by McCracken, seconded by Bahm to adjourn the meeting at 7:38 p.m. Motion carried- all ayes.
