CRYSTAL TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Wednesday, September 10, 2014

7:00 p.m.

Crystal Community Center

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Johnston at 7:00 p.m. and followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Members Present: Chris Johnston, Ted Padgett, Curt McCracken, Jason Anderson and Bob Naumann.

Public Comment:

a. Bob Klinginpeel presented information on the Montcalm Economic Alliance.

b. Kathleen M. Dunne, 64B District Court Judge Candidate introduced herself to the Board.

c. The Public was allowed time to make comments.

Approval of Agenda and Accept the Consent Agenda: Motion by McCracken, supported by Padgett to

accept the agenda and Consent Agenda with the addition of item f. under Unfinished Business (Discussion of

combining Sewer Administrator/Secretary into one position). Motion carried- all ayes.

Consent Agenda: Motion by Naumann, supported by Padgett to approve the Consent Agenda which included

the following items:

a. Approve Draft Minutes of the August 13, 2014 Meeting.

b. Approve Township Bills

c. Approve Treasurer’s Report

d. Approve Crystal/Duck Lake Sanitary Sewer Bills

Motion carried- all ayes.

Reports: Reports were presented.

Correspondence: Monthly correspondence was presented.

Unfinished Business:

a. Motion by Padgett, supported by McCracken to adopt the revised 2014/2015 Budget. Motion carried- all ayes.

d. Leaf Pickup- Motion by McCracken, supported by Naumann to pay Jim Wymer $2,200 as quoted to build a

cover for the leaf vacuum. Motion carried- all ayes.

e. Committees- Motion by Padgett, supported by Anderson to appoint Bonnie Kanitz, Pam Greenhoe, Steve

Meinhardt, Angel Hacker and Kim Siburt to the Recreation Committee. Motion carried- all ayes.

New Business:

a. Burke Cemetery- Amanda Sheets researched names of those buried in Burke Cemetery who do not have grave

markers. Motion by McCracken, supported by Anderson to approve a total of $200 to purchase lumber from

Carson City Lumber and an enclosed case to erect at Burke Cemetery to acknowledge unmarked graves and

advertise cemetery rules. Motion carried- all ayes.

b. Motion by Naumann, supported by McCracken to accept the LED Sign Agreement as presented. Motion

carried- all ayes.

c. Turn out Gear quotes- Motion by Padgett, supported by McCracken to purchase 5 pants and coats for the Fire

Department from E-Xtreme Time Emergency in the amount of $1768.62 for each set. Motion carried- all ayes.

ii. Hose quotes- Motion by Johnston, supported by McCracken to purchase six 1 ¾ inch hose and six 2 ½ inch

hose for 50 ft. length of hose from Time Emergency for $99.00 for each 50 ft. length. Motion carried- all ayes.

iii. Fencing quotes- Motion by Naumann, supported by Padgett to purchase split rail fence from Carson City

Lumber for $1,214.25. Motion carried 4/1 (Anderson opposed).

e. Motion by Johnston, supported by Padgett to allow the purchase of portable nets not to exceed $400 for

Pickleball and tape. Motion carried- all ayes.

f. Motion by McCracken, supported by Padgett to accept the resignation of Fire Chief, Lonny Fitzpatrick

effective November 30, 2014. Motion carried- all ayes.

Public Comment: The public was allowed time for comment.

Adjournment: Motion by McCracken, supported by Padgett to adjourn the meeting at 9:07 pm. Motion

carried- all ayes.
